News from the New Librarians and Information Specialists Interest Group

New Librarians and Information Specialists special Interest Group had an informal meeting during the 2008 conference in Charlottetown, which gave us the opportunity to get together with other new (and a few seasoned) professionals, exchange ideas and create networks. Non interest group members were also invited to join us for dinner to get an idea of what the group is all about.

Members can now post to and get updates on activities that would be of interest to them in the New Librarians and Information Specialists Facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=10635851305).

This year's focus has been to encourage members to take an active role in associations, conferences and other professional development activities, a focus that continues in the year to come.

I look forward to seeing more New Librarians &Information Specialists Special Interest Group members taking part in the next APLA Conference in Halifax.
