About Games @ the Library
During the week of October 18-24, 2009, APLA will be sponsoring "Games @ the Library" week. What does this mean? Anytime that week, we are encouraging all libraries in Atlantic Canada to host a "game themed" event of their choice (board games, chess, trivia, scavenger hunts, video games, etc.). Events can be geared towards specific age groups or the whole community. Larger libraries may consider having separate events for kids, tweens & teens, or seniors. You are limited only by your imagination and energy levels! Our goal is to show that libraries are places where people meet, learn, and have fun.
Hasbro Canada Donating Games to Public Libraries
To make Games @ the Library week extra special, Hasbro Canada has agreed to provide each public library in Atlantic Canada with a copy of SCRABBLE Classic and PICTUREKA (one of their newest games!).
© 2009 Hasbro. All Rights Reserved. SCRABBLE, the associated logo, the design of the distinctive SCRABBLE brand gameboard, and the distinctive letter tile designs are trademarks of Hasbro in the United States and Canada.
Grand Prize: Nintendo Wii
One lucky winner in Atlantic Canada will be taking home a Nintendo Wii gaming system! Be sure to register the participants from your branch's Games @ the Library event(s) for their chance to win.
Getting Started
Not sure what Games @ the Library week is all about, or how to get started? We have lots of resources to help you with ideas and to promote your event(s).
Download Publicity Materials
Please note: publicity materials incorporating the Hasbro logo, PICTUREKA, SCRABBLE, and associated logos and designs, were officially approved by Hasbro in Canada and the United States. Individual libraries are not permitted to modify them, or use the Hasbro logos and designs, without prior approval from Hasbro.
Libraries are welcome to use APLA's Games @ the Library logo however they wish.
